Karkinos is a photographic series documenting my wife's bowel cancer journey, including moments from her chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, and ongoing recovery. These intimate images chart the physical and emotional terrain of serious illness, capturing moments of vulnerability, resilience, and the strange mundanity that exists alongside medical crisis.
By photographing treatment sessions, hospital environments, and the quiet intervals of recovery, I create a visual archive that resists the sanitised narratives often surrounding cancer. Instead offering an honest, unflinching record of bodily transformation and endurance. This work sits at the intersection of documentary and personal testimony, using photography as both witness and memorial, transforming private trauma into shared experience while honouring the dignity and strength required to navigate such profound uncertainty.
