I use the Sony ZV-1, a camera designed for vloggers and content creators, primarily for still photography, subverting its intended purpose. Built for video-first workflows, the ZV-1's 1-inch sensor and fast lens produce images with pleasing bokeh and punchy colours that differ from traditional compact cameras. By repurposing this tool against its marketed function, I engage with the tensions between consumer expectation and creative agency, finding photographic potential in a device engineered for a different medium entirely. This practice reflects my broader interest in obsolescence and technological misuse, working against the grain of designed functionality to discover alternative aesthetic possibilities in contemporary imaging tools.
